May 7, 2005 3PM, Fletcher Free Library - NYRA-Vermont's Annual Meeting
Proposed bylaw amendments (submitted by NYRA-Vermont President Ken Boring) After the proposed amendments were amended, the chapter approved them unanimously. Two of the most significant changes are that a member may now hold more than one office at a time, and the Executive Board (composed of the chapter's officers) may now suspend or expel members by unanimous vote.
Then we moved on to the election. Jay Leff, Hardy Machia, and Jeremy Ryan were the sole nominees for President, Secretary, and Treasurer, respectively. All three were elected unanimously. Heavenly Ryan and Kevin Ryan (no relation) were both nominated for the office of Vice-President, and after a tie vote and unformal debate (which necessitated a re-vote according to our bylaws) Heavenly was elected.
Two people Hardy knows, Sarah McAbee (Middlebury College) and Cecelia (I forget her last name, unfortunately), were elected the chapter's Outreach Directors. Pending their acceptance of the positions, that is: neither of them were present at the meeting. Sarah has accepted her role of College outreach director - May 11th, 2005
Also discussed was the organization of the upcoming Poker Tournament on May 22nd at Burlington High school. We will need a few more people over 18 that are willing to be dealers, and Jay will teach us the rules for those not familiar with them.
